Earlier today Mrs. Formal Traditional and I were speaking with a bevy of sales associates about procuring some new equipment for our company. After a significant amount of time showing us alternatives and us politely demurring we informed them that we were sure that they item must not be in stock but we were used to lead times. After all what used to be 4-12 weeks in our industry has stretched to 24-30+ in some cases. How bad could it be? The bravest of the group replied. The answer...2-3 years. Well...I guess we now are grateful that we only have to wait sometimes 6 months for items. Good thing, at least for our clients, there is often more than one acceptable option.
